Good evening morning! Eek, with all my early nights lately it’s definitely past my bedtime right now!
Today was long and hot, and passed by in a blur of packing, unpacking, driving, lifting, sweating, carrying, etc. I always like the idea of moving, but when it comes time to actually do the work, it doesn’t seem so fun.

Luckily I started the day on the right foot, with SIAB for both mommy and I

Together, they contained 1.5 cups chocolate almond milk, 1 scoop Chocolate Amazing Grass, 1 scoop vanilla when protein, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, banana. frozen blueberries and about 10 ice cubes. Topped with hemp granola and coconut butter. It was a perfect breakfast for such a hot day, and was delicious to boot
Then we packed. And drove. And unloaded the car. And carried everything into the new building. And dealt with some issues that came up. And then drove across town for load two. And then unpacked again. It was long and sweaty, and by the time we had a chance to grab some lunch it was already 3!

There was talk of grabbing some fast food, but we both knew that it wouldn’t give us the energy we needed for the rest of the day. Luckily, we found a great place for a quick meal.
In Kitchener there’s a group of stores that have come together to form a supermarket called The Healthy Haven, which carries various specialty groceries, bulk health foods and has other services such as a cafe and salad bar. It’s basically a foodie’s dream outside of Toronto

I got a salad from the salad bar (it was $5.99, pretty reasonable considering the amount of toppings you’re allowed to pick) – and chose a bed of spinach topped with cucumbers, carrots, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, black olives, raisins, chickpeas and a hard-boiled egg.

I got an herb vinaigrette as the dressing, and it was awesome on the salad (which I inhaled in about 2 minutes flat).

I also got their specialty “Fiddlehead” smoothie, which had ingredients like greens+, coffee beans, vanilla frozen yogurt and pistachios. I got it with the vegetable-based proteins+ powder instead of whey protein, and it was awesome! I love their smoothies so much, but they’re so expensive so they have to be an occasional treat
I slaved away doing manual labour for several more hours after my short lunch break, and finally got to the point of being mostly unpacked. The blazing weather made the move much less bearable – I can’t believe how hot it was today! My new place doesn’t have AC either, and even with a fan, I was dying as I was shuffling around boxes.

There was no cold water in the house, so I had to settle for beer
I’m such a trooper.

Starting to look like “home”!
I hope my roommates will be forgiving about the amount of kitchen space I’m bound to take up, because I definitely have more kitchen supplies than the average student. But I need my candy thermometer in case we decide to make candy apples, and my heart-shaped springform pan in case we need to make a love-themed cake, and… maybe if I bake some cookies and just leave them sitting on the counter, no one will notice?

Even though it feels like things are coming together, my room is still a disaster. Sigh.

I took another break a little after 9 to go visit with my parents and watch Big Brother while eating dinner my mom made. Chicken, sweet potato wedges and beets, yum!

I picked both of them up Peanut Buster Parfaits from Dairy Queen on the way, but I didn’t think I could handle that much ice cream, so I got a small hot fudge sundae and topped it with some raw peanuts from home. It was delicious and so nice in the hot weather!
I need to get to bed because I have another long day tomorrow – we need to go back to Toronto to pick up the few things I had to leave behind today, and have some shopping planned as well. Talk to you later, and sweet dreams!
When was the last time you moved?
