Hello blog friends!
Do you ever get stuck in a breakfast rut? I do, but right now I’m perfectly content in my rut.

Every morning for the past week I’ve had a vanilla chobani with chocolate chunk hazelnut biscotti granola (from Target – best granola ever!!) and a banana. I decided to change it up a little bit by using strawberries instead, which was just as amazing <3 I think I could eat this breakfast forever.

During the week I was getting sick of thinking of new lunches everyday, so I made 2 portions of the same dish and killed two birds with one stone in that respect. A fried egg with bok choy and black beans, an apple, carrot sticks and a cookies n’ cream Lunabar. Quick and simple, right?
DInner was anything but quick and simple, though. My mom has a friend who’s daughter lives in Toronto, and whenever she’s in town for business we usually get together for dinner. Last time we just walked around until something caught our eye, but this time we planned to go to Fuzion, a nice resto-lounge in the area. We actually planned to go for Winterlicious, but realized that our date was for the day before it started – oops! We weren’t too disappointed to be eating off the regular menu, though

I started with a soho pear martini, which was perfect. They had a terry’s chocolate orange martini as well, so I definitely need to go back to try it!

The waiter recommended getting an appetizer and an entree, so my mom and I ordered the Fuzion Chophouse Salad to start. I think there was some sort of mix-up, because they actually brought us the Greens salad instead. My mom had originally wanted to order it but I veto-ed it because of red peppers (eww), so I just picked out the peppers and went from there.

For my entree I got the Asparagus Gnocchi, which were filled with sheep’s milk ricotta and served with greens, asparagus and pine nuts. It was out of this world delicious – seriously, sooooo good! Usually gnocchi creep me out a little bit because they look like maggots, but these looked and tasted amazing.

I asked for the waiter’s rec on which white wine to get, and he recommended the pinot grigio. I forget the exact name, but it was probably the best pinot grigio I’ve ever had. Apparently it’s not available in the LCBO, so I doubt I’ll be having it again anytime soon
For my pasta, I opted out of the addition of veal because I figured the money and stomach space would be better saved for dessert, and I was right.

My mom and I split a warm, fudgey brownie topped with chocolate truffle and served with a white chocolate pistachio ice cream. Hell. Yeah.

The others split a trio of creme brulee, which looked amazing but we unfortunately didn’t get to try. My mom ordered one for us to split as well, but apparently they ran out of creme brulee, so we didn’t really get a chance to try them
I couldn’t resist getting out the last little bit left in their green tea brulee bowl just to taste, and it was totally worth it.
Even though there were a few kinks along the way, I would go back to Fuzion in a heartbeat. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was really nice, and it was a great place to spend an evening with friends.
Now if only I could win the lottery so I could eat like this everyday…
