Water(melon)

Hello :) How are you this (not so) fine Tuesday?

The weather here is dreary and rain is forecast for the next week. It’s a little easier to not feel bad about how crappy it is outside when you’re inside all day anyway, but I’m still missing my daily dose of vitamin D.

Breakfast was brought to class, as usual. Some cookie dough cereal made with 1/3 cup oats, 1/2 scoop protein powder and a spoonful of almond butter all mashed together and topped with blueberries.

Topped with almond milk I brought in my water bottle :)

This term I have 2 hour lunch breaks, which are perfect for swims. Both of my roommates are really enthusiastic about swimming, so we’ve started heading over for afternoon swims. Today I swam about 1km, and spent some time just treading water and floating in the deep end too. I’m definitely a floater and not a sinker, so I love just floating around because it takes almost no effort :)

On the way back to class we passed a guy handing out free slices of watermelon. Sweet!

I was absolutely starving after swimming, and practically inhaled my Tim Hortons bagel and apple (which didn’t get a picture).

I also had a Mars bar my roommate gave me. I haven’t had a Mars bar in years but it was really good ;)

Once classes were over I went to the mall for groceries and a new pair of goggles (mine were super cheap and left huge, painful rings around my eyes) and by the time I got home I had absolutely no idea what I wanted for dinner.

I ended up scrambling two eggs and making lettuce wraps with them, with a side of the last of my concerto cookies. Completely random, but still delicious.

My nights are filled with what’s become the usual – night class, homework, sending e-mails, cleaning, chores, training… blah. Hopefully I can add a little more excitement to my life before I go insane. A little bit of sun wouldn’t hurt either ;)

Are you a sinker or a floater in water?

The Monday Blues

Man, it’s hard coming back to work after a long weekend, especially when it was 4 days! We’re really busy at work right now, though, so I feel like I’m running around all day. I had to be in extra early today so I threw together a quick breakfast of greek yogurt + blueberries + bananas + granola -

My other granola that I bought at the farmer’s market forever ago passed it’s “best before” date, so I chucked it and got some new Bear Naked granola instead. I liked the taste of the old granola, but it just wasn’t crunchy enough for me so I was a little glad. The Bear Naked stuff was really good – nice and crunchy and sweet

For lunch I threw together a bunch of fresh ingredients -

The same salad I had on the weekend that I LOVED, some watermelon with coarsely chopped mint, a bag of baby carrots and a Peppermint Stick Luna Bar.

Melon + mint = mindblowing. Where has it been all my life? Some other noteworthy duos:

  • cinnamon + hummus
  • chocolate + PB/mint/coconut/sea salt/anything
  • nut butter + jam
  • pineapple + salt
  • avocado + soy sauce
  • tuna + mayo
  • aloe + yogurt
  • pumpkin + oatmeal

Now I’m off to battle traffic to visit my boyfriend about an hour away because I’m sad and miss him :( [Can I get an "Awwwww..."? ;) ] Hopefully it won’t be too bad – apparently the Queen is in town which I’m assuming doesn’t happen very often. 8O

What are some of your favourite “duos”? Mine is Callie + Nate ;) ["Awwwww..."x2]
